My won't be the longest answer. I had to have a kidney removed that had a mass on it. I had a rough time after the surgery and it still bothers me at times. But they had to take a rib out to get to mine.

My son donated a kidney to one of his co-workers. He told me that he had a little bit of pain after his surgery. He was in the hospital for about three days. He stayed home for about two weeks before going back to work. My wife went down to be with him when he went in the hospital. She said that his first words after surgery were "Why did I do this !" He doesn't regret doing what he did. He was 39 years old when he donated the kidney. He is feeling very well now and you wouldn't even know that he has only one kidney now. The girl that he donated his kidney to is doing fine now. He has since moved away and still keeps in touch the the lady.

If you do donate one of your kidneys to some one you are to be commented for doing so. I was scared for my son, but very proud of him for doing what he did.

I never have, but I have heard that it is not really that painful. Probably just a normal surgery. 4 to 6 weeks to heal.

There was a man here in my city that donated a kidney and it ended up saving his own life because he had some kind of medical problem that would not have been detected if he had not been in surgery. A selfless gift saved his own life!

Good luck to you!

Ha!
No I haven't. I will never be able to donate my kidney. I was diabetic when I was pregnant so I have a high chance of developing diabetes later in life.
