see a guy who has 3 bags of chips and 2 bottles of water. Would you give him your money for the food if you couldn't kill him?

To begin with, if I were lost in the desert, I would be walking at night to conserve body water, and sleeping during the day. To sleep in the desert you must start preparing an hour or so before dawn, digging a concave trench big enough to lie down in and about two to three feet deep. This trench must be at a right angle to the direction the sun travels across the sky. This way the only time the sun beats down on you is when it is directly overhead - the rest of the day you are in relative shade.
If I met such a man with such provisions, he would not know how much money I had, therefore I could start low and haggle until an acceptable price was reached. And even then I would only purchase 1 bag of chips and the water, if he would sell both bottles. The chips have salt, which would cause a sodium/H20 imbalance in your body, causing you to drink more water than normal. I would only eat the chips at night, and only enough to keep something in my stomach. The water would be rationed in capfuls. The last thing I would do is to follow the tracks of the man until I was out of the desert.

If I am stranded and he comes walking by with food and water, then either he's stranded too or I'm not stranded, right? Well, anyway, if I'm stranded my money won't do me any good, I would trade him my money for his food and follow him.

Well we can't kill him... but you never said we couldn't rob him. And being stranded makes you do crazy things. I would take the money, rob the man, RUN, and HIDE

Killing him is not an option, I would make him an offer on the stuff.
When the water or the lack thereof affects me, I would have to fight him for water. But not to the death

Id ask if he would be willing to share, if not, I'd offer some money (alot less than what I had), I wouldnt let him know exactly how much I had.
