As a rule of thumb, always call the septic guy first. Lines are screwy and you have no idea what is going on. Plumbers will charge you big time to clean out your drains but if the problem is your septic, you've just blown 200 to 300 bucks.
The septic tank pumpers will charge you about 150 depending on your location. Check the yellow pages and call them all for quotes. I just had this done this morning and wished I called a lot sooner. My toilet backed up and blew raw sewage into my shower. I too thought it was just that toilet. When I started getting the standing water in the shower along with the sewage, I called the pumpers and sure enough, that fixed it. Make sure you flush before he leaves to make sure everything works as it should.

First thing do you have small kids in the house? If so they would have throw some thing in the toilet. In that case it is up to you to find out and get clear the toilet .
Second, make sure and tell the kids not to throw any thing in the toilet and also advice adults , toilet tissue is the only paper which is produced to dissolve in the toilet sink. Don't even try to throw the paper towels in the toilet.
Either you can try by your self with the u -tube from Home hardware or you can call plumber.

Treat your septic system with a good septic enzime (hardware store)
First try to snake it out (hardware store)
Had that problem one time and someone dropped pencil in it and flushed, had to take off the toilet and found it lodged in the horn (toilet to septic).
Get and new wax ring two is good to take up any irregular space they're cheap

If one toilet is fine and the other is giving you clog problems I would say you have a blocked pipe. You could rent an auger from Home Despot or Lowes and try to DIY. Otherwise, you will need a plumber.
Since most homes have pvc sewer lines, make sure you rent an auger that is safe for pvc

What are you putting in it? Some places have older septic tanks and things like tampons and toilet paper cannot be flushed and clog it up. Their could also be a buildup and you would need to break it down. Not sure what you use.

try having a plumber look at your sewer line there might be something clogging it. if that not the problem replace your toilet youd be surprised what can get flushed and stuck inside a toilet. i had the same problem, my daughter flushed the TP holder and it got stuck in there, called a plumber and he just told me to replace the toilet "it would cost the same for a new toilet as it would for me come out and check it"

If it isn't the septic and there's nothing wrong with the toilet then there's something plugging the line IE: Tree roots, etc.,broken line.
