No matter where you study abroad, it's always good to bring things that are really American and things that they don't have in their countries.

France sadly has most things that are found in America... A recipe book with popular American meals is a good idea, I think. If you can make anything, that's usually good, too. An American flag?

I too studied in France. I recall bringing American wine, although it's nowhere as near as good as French wine! I think I also brought coffee table books of my state and a map of the USA. If you live in an area that is known for arts & crafts, you might bring something like that.

how about perfumes? or you can buy some books depending on your hosts likes.
