Ready???
The timetraveller goes back in time and kills off grandpa...however, the second grandpa dies, he dies. Grandpa comes back to life however, because, the grandson[murderer] is dead, unable to kill him. As soon as that happens, the grandson comes back, and is trapped in that cycle, repeatting the murder forever.

Well, theoretically speaking, he is a time "traveller", see? So, whatever he does or wherever he travels to...he would be a "foreign" person in all situations, cuz he is a seperate body from the past version of himself..and in the scenario of him going back and killing his grandfather..well, he would still live..as a traveller, but the future version of himself would no longer be existing...cuz if time travel was actually possible, it would mean that there are places in time that you can actually travel to..like a whole other reality somewhere in the universe..of certain points in time...so thats why he, as a traveller could still exist..but his future-self would be fading from existance...i know it sounds really confusing...but i hope i was of some help.. =)

I always thought the grandfather paradox was a bit cruel, kind of like Schrödinger's cat. What if the time traveler had an affair with her grandfather and gave birth to his love child, which turned out to be her father or mother...?
Now that would make for a much more interesting novel.

The time traveler could come back to the present in a different body. He could have been born, but this time to different people. He just wouldn't recognize himself.

It's an unsolvable paradox. I think that as hard as the traveler tries to kill his grandfather, he wouldn't be able to. Some kind of circumstance would prevent him from doing so. Maybe he'd go to shoot a gun and a little flag would pop out of it that says "BANG" on it.

In physics, that's called the "grandfather paradox," and it's why most scientists reject the possibility of time travel.

The grandfather paradox that Einstein often spoke of. If he couldn't figure it out, I sure as hell won't be able to.

There are an infinite number of parallel universes where anything that can happen does happen. He would just start a new fork in the m-space.
