I admire your goal. I suggest you study hard in school. I'm not sure how old you are right now but your spelling and grammar need help. It is very tough competition to get into med school and you may not think spelling and grammar are important but they are. ("I" should always be capitalized and it is "there" not "their" and "anything" is all one word).

If you are truly dedicated, your final goal will be worth the work it took you to get there. Good luck, Hon!

Well, that is kind of an open question and doesn't give much information. Are you currently an undergrad student? someone looking to change careers? a high school student?

I think the best thing would be to browse www.studentdoctor.net for info. Do some research about medical school, residency, and the lifestyle of physicians. See if it's what you have in mind. Yes, it will be hard, but you can get through it and adjust if you are really dedicated to the career.

As for cracking under pressure, well, everyone has different personalities and tolerance levels. I think you will agree that in general when you feel comfortable with something you are less likely to crack under pressure. So of course as you become more educated and experienced with medicine you will do better. However, you may find you need to choose a more predicitble speciality or medical field than a high pressure operation room situation or ER type setting you know? You have lots of options in medical school.

Definitely find out more about becoming a doctor before you worry about if you can handle the pressure or will regret it...you can't know those things until you know more about being a doctor.

Well to put the DR. placard above your head you'll need to excel in the academics and survive the practical. The academics include 13 years of post secondary school ; the practical is 4 years of residency. And don't forget the cost (this is not community college), you'll attend the best pre-med and medical school and do a residency where you'll challenge your stamina and at times wonder if becoming a doctor was the right choice.
Time wise you'll most likely begin this process in your late teens and finish in your mid 30s.
Given this information ask yourself are you ready for this level of commitment of both time, effort and $$$.

Talk to a doctor that you know as there are a lot of unhappy doctors currently due to the continuously worsening business aspect of medicine.

Great goal to have!!! I would suggest you speak to your Guidance Counselor for advice on classes that you could take that would help you toward making this a reality. I would think that science classes would be important.
I once asked my father why I needed to take math classes. He said because it helps one think logically. Thought I would pass that on to you. But a good doctor needs more than logic. He needs people skills, too. I hope you find out for sure if this is the career you want...then go for it!!!! Study hard !!! Good luck, friend.
