A man in my life quit smoking over three weeks ago. He is chewing nicotine gum, but has horrible headaches and he aches all over. He smoked a pack a day for almost 20 years and his mom smoked around him before that. Is it normal for him to still be de-toxing, after three weeks? Could it be the gum?

As you may or may not know....nicotine withdrawal is said to be more difficult than heroin withdrawal. It's said that the 3rd day, the 3rd week, and the 3rd month are the worst. I would suggest that he use an over-the-counter drug like Tylenol to help with the aches and pains and he might want to switch from the gum to a patch.
