My daughter has been having a runny nose, and a slight fever. I'm not sure if she is sick or she is just teething. Because I've been told the when they get there i teeth they can have fevers and a runny nose. She has had it for the past couple of days. Any suggestions.

You know your daughter best...My son is 11 months and has never gotten a runny nose or a fever when he was teething...and he has 8 teeth. If she is acting sluggish I would call your doctor, or even if she is clingy!

More than likely that is teething. My kids seemed to have the exact same symptoms. Really try NOT to give her any tylenol unless the fever gets past 100.5~~I have been told that by my doctors. And really NEVER give your baby cold meds UNLESS your ped tells you too. Any of them.

Treat it like it is teething. Give her frozen waffles, frozen washcloths. Things like that for comfort. Things like orajel really don't work long enough to give it to them. If she is still acting sickly for a TOTAL of 5 days I would call the doctor. Then she probably just has a little cold and hopefully they can give you some tips.

If for some reason it IS a cold give her the warmest shower you can, to clear her out well. Plenty of fluids...really, give her TONS. And citrus really helps out also. I am going through a really bad cold right now with my 13 mo. old and that is what we are doing.

Good Luck!!

I gave mine tylenol for babies to help the fever. So that is covered either way. Look at her gums or touch them, you might feel little bumps. Is she crying from any pain? There is a natural product I believe the name is camilia. It is a miracle for some. My baby and another parent's child stopped crying after 5 minutes of taking it. I bought it at Shoppers Drugmart.

Colds can run 4 days to a week. I wouldn't let the fever go over 3 days. I'd take her in if it continues.

this is flu season, give her some tylenol plus cold, set up a water vaporizer in her room (if you have one) if not, give her a warm bath to help with the runny nose, and dress her light, since she's running a fever. if she gets any worse, take her into the doctor, or ER if she's really bad. since its just been a runny nose and fever for a couple days, its probally not serious. i hope she feels better! godd luck with your little one!

That happened to me as a parent to my son with those symptos, and I discounted the situation as related to teething. Oh I wish I hadn't. Please have her taken into your pediatrician.

My son had a bad ear infection which was treated but the swelling never receded. After the red infection was gone, there was no way to observe how swollen his eardrum was bulging (because it showed grey as it's supposed to).

It wasn't until he had a tympanogram at 21 months that we realized how full of fluid his ears were. He had been cranky since about 16 months, when he got treated for the ear infection.

Please have her checked out, I would have loved to relive my son's 16-21 month age and do things differently.

My daughter gets high fevers when she is teething, along with messy diapers. Try giving her something to chew on. If she will, that's probably what it is. Key thing to watch for for signs of illness? No appetite.
