The solution here is to go ahead and let Norton uninstall Spy Sweeper. Then once Norton is up and running, disable it temporarily and reinstall Spy Sweeper and keep them both.

But with that you have to educate yourself on a few things.

When you run Spy Sweeper, it's going to detect a few files from Norton as being bad files. Also, Norton will do the same thing with Spy Sweeper, and it's up to you to know which files those are, and to not delete them.

I have McAfee Virus Scan, and Adaware. For some reason my Adaware does not detect anything from McAfee, but when I run a virus scan, there is always one Adaware file that come up as a "PUP" file (Potentially unwanted Program). I always leave that file alone.

the respond acceptable that's to pass forward and enable Norton uninstall secret agent Sweeper. Then as directly as Norton is up and dealing, disable it directly and reinstall secret agent Sweeper and save them the two. yet with which you will instruct your self on some themes. as quickly as you run secret agent Sweeper, it is going to come across some information from Norton as being undesirable information. additionally, Norton will do the comparable element with secret agent Sweeper, and that's as much as you to delight wherein information those are, and to no longer delete them. I truly have McAfee Virus try, and Adaware. For some reason my Adaware would not come across something from McAfee, yet once I run an endemic try, there is often one Adaware rfile that get up as a "domestic dog" rfile (doubtlessly undesirable utility). I consistently pass away that rfile on my own.

Personally I'd go for Norton, I've never had any problems with it on mine and (touch wood) any virus infections that it hasn't cleared for me. I use Norton Internet Security, which yes is more expensive but has a Spyware Killer, Anti virus, Firewall & Outbreak Alert (dunno - never activated yet lol) plus it automatically updates so don't need to worry about remembering to check I have latest version.

You need both.
NAV is an anti-virus.
Webroot SpySweeper is an anti-spyware.
Both are excellent apps.

Are you sure that NAV didn't tell you to just disable SS temporarily ,not uninstall, during the installation of NAV?

Get McAfee! I've only had my computer for 2 months now, but it's busted several viruses, and kept a couple of hackers out already!
