I'd like to buy an Apple laptop. Anybody have any positive or negative feedback? Do you recommend a specific model? Thanks!

Apple computers are by far the best computers out there! Not only are they easier to use and work with, but they come with so much more that a windows computer doesn't. Apples make being on the computer for the computer illiterate, and the ones that hate using the computer easier and more fun. Access to everyday applications, searches, music, anything you want are only a click away. They have this cool feature where you have a desktop and a dashboard. The dashboard allows you to put widgets of your everyday applications, games, and searches on the screen without having to open your internet browser. you can even check your email without open your browser and going thru the trouble of putting in your user name and password. you can search business, people, google, and make phone calls from your dashboard with just a click. I love my Powerbook G4, but if I had to suggest a certain one, I would recommend the iMac desktops. 1) you get more storage and memory, 2) they have faster processors than the apple laptops and allow you to run multiple programs easier than the laptops, 3) if you like to play games, they have better graphics and more speed for games, 4) they all come with an LCD monitor and they are easy to store..they save more space than other desktops, 5) you can get everything wireless (keyboard, mouse, and a built in webcam if you like to video chat with friends and family) 6) the performance is 10 better than anything and the apple warranty (if you choice to purchase it) will replace and fix anything that goes wrong or breaks for free. Not just for desktops but laptops as well.

I have the Powerbook G4 Tiger and I love it! However I'm also looking to sell mine for a desktop because I am pregnant and a fulltime student and I don't have time to carry around a laptop and diaper bag:):)

If you choose to go with the laptop, you won't be disappointed either. they are lightweight and easy to carry around. you won't have to worry about it weighing you down if you carry it to work or to the library or anywhere. they are all bluetooth, so you can transfer files to any bluetooth device close to you and accept files from your friends, if they are close to you. if you choose a laptop, i would suggest getting a 15 inch or bigger, because the 12 inch isn't a bad screen but a little small.

Either way you go with an Apple computer(laptop or desktop) you won't be disappointed. They are a little more expensive, but at the same time a good Sony Vaio will run you about $1200 to get all the stuff you want on it...and an good Apple cost your jsut about the same and you get more. On the website I gave you below, you can also play around and customize your owwn computer and get a price for it. you can also apply for an apple credit card, which will give you the choice of paying in full or breaking it down into monthly payments. also with the apple credit card you can shop at any apple store, or any store that the card is accepted and get discounts, so you can never go wrong with that!!

CHECK IT OUT!! GOOD LUCK!!

If you aren't a heavy user get yourself a MacBook
http://www.apple.com/macbook/macbook.html

If you need it to do heavy duty work then get a MacBookPro
http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/

Apple are not cheap but if you get the list of specs and option up a Wintel machine to match it you will see that the difference is not as large as it first seems. Mac has bluetooth, wireless, etc etc all built in and integrated.

I'd suggest giving an Apple a try. You will be buying a new laptop in 3 years or so anyway so it's not a big gamble. If you like it great. If you want to go back to Wintel you can wait till it's time to get a new machine OR you can sell your Apple second hand for far more than an equivalent Wintel and opt out quicker (have a look at eBay for the prices paid for second hand Apple stuff).

Of course the Wintel fan boys will tell you everyone who buys an Apple is a fool, being ripped off, etc etc. Strange that so many people enjoy this experience.

I use XP all day for work and OS X at home. They are both great but, for me, OS X is great+.

My friend's dad dropped an Apple laptop 4 ft onto cement and it got a big dent in the back but still worked. If that isn't positive about mac hardware I can't imagine what is. Now that the mac's architecture is like a pc's (on the new ones), there is no reason to be worried about the hardware (ie. you can install windows or Linux on a mac). Personally I think mac hardware is better then most Windows designed hardware. As long as you're getting a new one, you'll probably be fine.

Consider this before buying an Apple.
- Apple is stingy with the USB ports (Macbook has none, Macbook air/Pro has 2-3) My 7 year old Dell Inspiron has 4 XD. iMac thankfully has four....located in the back. ****** genius.
-Why did Apple get rid of the optical disc drive for the iMac it's largest computer, cause it got thinner. Apple promotes anorexia with it's slim computers.
-You can expand them, but not seriously upgrade them.
-Why did Apple axe it's A1243 keyboard only to offer a simliar device as separate accessory purchase (49.99)
- Ridiculously overpriced
- No HDMI ports, eSATA ports, or BluRay drives, among other mainstream technology standards. This attitude is best summed up by Apple’s 2-decade-long push for world-wide FireWire data ports, which Apple finally dropped years after its defeat to USB 2.0 was already obvious.
- No right click
- Trying to “X” out of a program doesn’t close it, it simply minimizes it. Just like the minimize button. Except it begins to kill your CPU after you’ve done it a few times by keeping programs running as ghosts.
- Mac's are not (contrary to popular belief) invulnerable to virus/malware.
- Software and hardware options for Mac are lame, or slim at best.

About two months ago I was dealing with the same dilemma. I purchased a 13 inch macbook pro and I have not regretted it. It was completely worth it and it is not overrated at all. PC overcomplicates things. Mac make things easy to do without making it too easy. You can do everything on the mac that you can do on the pc. In addition, it is more entertaining. They have many apps (including free apps) that keep you interested. If you're into programming, the Mac actually makes it easier to program than the PC (despite what u might have heard).

A friend at work brought in his Apple laptop and showed me some very cool things it has. It's definitely got a huge advantage over Windows in design, and very good performance when it comes to working with graphics.

It comes with a lot of cool software that actually gets you going immediately rather than having to purchase additional software like a regular PC does these days.

Please note that I do NOT own any Apple products other than an iPod. These are just things I noticed when my friend showed it to me.

Don't buy an apple computer unless you are ready to spend money. After a few years your programs will not work and you will have to go to the apps store and buy the update, but what you have already bought in the past will only work if you buy it again.

i'm planning on purchasing one too. u might want to wait till mid january after the mac expo because they might release something new.

i'm a PC user but i have used MAC for 7 years. i guess it all depends on what ur gonna use ur laptop for. if ur gonna use it for multimedia and internet stuff like webpage design or even photo editing then MAC is the way to go. my personal opinion is that MAC is very easy to use if ur a first time user. the downside of a MAC is that it has a few titles for games (that's if ur a gamer).

The one big advantage of having a MAC... u do not have to deal with viruses when on the internet.

The macbooks look great...i personally like the white one because it looks cleaner and u don't see the scratch marks as one would with the black one...the black one is just faster and a bit better with the specs.

The macbook pros are like the porches of the laptops. u have to treat that thing like a baby...one drop or dent...it's...well it sux to have a dent. or it might start to act up.

hope that helped

Do not ever buy Apple! They wrap mediocre hardware in a flashy package, and sell it for waaaay more than its worth (just look at the iPod, it costs twice as much as other music players with identical specs). Not only that, but they are not compatible with anything. Buy a PC.

I love my desk top, hate my I Pad mini; like my I Phone when it is accepting my passwords
Lately it does not accept each new password that I enter. It says I have entered an incorrect password. WHY? I have short fat fingers, so I have to use keystrokes that are slow, and my fingers have to move off the key quickly. I am not quick enough.
If I could bypass the password system, I would be happier.
