She fell off our bed when I turned around. I called the pediatrician and she told me that it is not dangerous unless she went unconcious or if she convulsioned. My baby just cried very loud and yelled for a while. Needless to say, I was crying for how terrible I felt and how worried I was. After a little while she seemed much better. The Dr. told us to press against her forehead with our hand for 10 minutes and then for 20 minutes put ice. And then for another little while put honey on. We already did these things. She seems to be doing better. I would like to know if this has happened to any other parents and how they started to feel ok about everything. I feel so terrible and I still feel worried. Thanks for your input. Any suggestions are welcome.

its a horrible feeling when your child hurts himself..its because of the need we have to protect them! my 15 month old son has fallen off the bed twice..the 1st time it happened i was SOOOOO upset..i felt sick with guilt..i took him straight to see the health visitor and she said it was ok as long and he didn't loose consciousness..i cant explain the how strong the feeling of guilt i experienced, however my son cried for a few mins then he was fine..the second time was the same, and i didnt feel as guilty as i keep telling myself that its what happens when you have children..its even worse when they start walking, or even riding a bike!!
as long as you keep an eye on any strange behaviour like feeling drowsey or constant crying that goes on for hours then she should be fine.
it is natural to feel bad when your child hurts him/herself but just tell yourself that it cant always be helped, next time try placing her on the floor instead of high surfaces ??
despite what others might say,u sound like a very good and caring mum so keep that in mind for any future bumps and falls!
all the best!!

My son is eight months old. He has fallen off a couch three times and a bed once. I have also accidently pinched his side while trying to put him in his stroller. Now, a lot of people reading this may think I'm a horrible parent. But, really, children get hurt. That's just reality. It has nothing to do with your parenting skills. I'm sure your daughter will be fine. It's better to hit her forehead than break a bone. I would just watch her. Make sure she's still behaving normally. Will you ever "forget" it? I doubt it. But you'll start to feel better about it once you see she's alright.

The 1st time my oldest fell out of bed, he cried like crazy, I felt bad.

The next timehe fell, I walk in the room to check on him, and he wasn't on the bed, I freaked out! He had fell off on the other side, I was just convinced that I'd look on the floor on the other side and find my poor sweet baby lying lifeless on the floor . . . NOPE, this time he took a toy with him! LOL He didn't even cry!

My 2nd, I dropped when I fell asleep with him in the recliner when he was just 2 weeks old. I cried a lot (I was hormonal) because I had just got on to his brother earlier that evening for throwing a matchbox car and it bounced off the floor and hit the baby in the head. I felt so bad for yelling at him for that and here I flat out drop the baby!

Don't worry, it's okay. In fact, many (superstious) people belive it's bad luck if a baby doesn't fall off the bed before they turn one.

Question: Why put honey on it???

My son fell off the bed at 9 mos (he rolled quite a ways) and broke his clavicle. We didn't know for hours. Wow, did I feel horrible. The doctor said there are a lot of kids who break their clavicles including him at age 2 and not to worry. But the nurses were very irritated with me. I felt like a terrible parent. He's three now and completely fine.

My baby has fallen out of bed a couple of times, and off the couch. It isn't a big deal. These things happen when they are learning to get around. You can blink and they will fall.

OH hon every single parent has had a child fall and bump themselves really bad. We all feel horrible and wonder what we did wrong but we didnt do anything wrong. All kids hurt themselves occasionnally and we can try but cant stop all of the boo-boos.

this has happened to me, my daughter fell off our kitchen chair (she's two and wont sit in a highchair or booster seat, she's very stubborn) anyway, she fell out of the chair and hit her head on the floor, she was fine, but had a horrible headache afterwards, give her some tylenol to help with her ouchy forehead. just cuddle her, dont feel bad about it, it happens to the best of parents, i hope she feels better!

Poor thing at 7 month you just can't take your eyes off of them. They want to touch everything. Keep looking out for sing but you should take her to the doc. office just to make sure she is find. Maybe she could get an X-Ray or something. Be carefull and take care of your little one and yourself.

sounds like your baby is fine. usually signs are if they cry all the time or act differently then they normally do. but sounds like everything is fine.
