I am in the midst of relentless severe cold and snow in Colorado; another blizzard and I can't work or do anything. This does not make sense. The winter weather used to be great in years past, commonly in the 50's/60's in January in S. Colorado. But now this incredible cold week after week. Why is it so cold when Al Gore promised the world Global warming is absolutely here?
I really enjoy the internet he invented but am dismayed the reverse global freezing seems to be happening. Is anyone else feeling this?

"Global Warming" is actually a misnomer. It should be called "global climate change". When all is said and done, some places will be much colder than they were before, and other places will be much hotter and drier. As we go through the transition, the effects are going to be felt differently in different places. While Colorado may currently be socked in with a blizzard, many other places across the country are experiencing really bizarre warmness. Here in south west Michigan, we are used to freezing winters with tons of lake effect snow. And there's been hardly any snow this season, and its pretty warm out.

Its pretty simple really. The earth is warming up for the most part, its melting the polar ice caps, which is running into the oceans and enough of it is slowly changing what is called the "conveyor belt" which is the current of the oceans, which effects the weather throughout the world. Scientists predict that when enough water is dumped into the ocean it will stop the conveyor belt and thus cause a new ice age. Studies have led scientitsts to believe that this is how the last ice age occured.
So even though its "global warming" and alot of places on earth are warming up slowly, it inevitably means another ice age.

I work for a catalog sales company, and I have been asking people all over the country if they have had any winter, as we have not here in Maine for the last 2 winters. The only trace of winter is where you are, everyone else has been unseasonably warm. As someone else has said, global warming can be expressed with unusual cold in some places also. The results will be unusual and extreme weather everywhere. Global warming is real, and we need to stop pretending it is not, it will not go away because we refuse to believe in it.

Unfortunately, it's not just Al Gore's Global Warming, it belongs to all of us. Global warming causes different weather patterns to emerge all over the globe, not just warming. The name itself is sort of deceiving. Severe cold and ice is one of the symptoms that occur. This is something that will happen over not only our lifetimes, but our children's and grandchildren, etc. People point to regular earth weather patterns, such as Ice Ages, etc. to try and refute global warming and human's influence on it. But they stop short of trying to explain the acceleration that is not usual in earth patterns, and is being caused by human technology. That acceleration is undeniable and is a huge part of what has convinced most scientists that global warming is frighteningly real. By the way, check out the news - a huge ice shelf in the Antarctic fell off today.

Well, I live in New Hampshire and we haven't seen 1 snow flake this year! It is also in the 50's and 60's, something you don't see here except lately!

Why is it exactly Bush wants to save the Polar Bears drowning due to the melting ice cap?

"Global Warming" is simply a catch-all term used to designate increases in AVERAGE atmospheric and ocean water temperatures, and NOT reflective of a "consistent increase in overall global temperatures or regional climates". Among the adverse effects of "global warming" is more "severe weather patterns" as GHG's (Greenhouse Gases) accumulate in the atmosphere, causing more tornados, hurricanes, floods, and, yes, even blizzards.

On the other hand, Al Gore looks like he could use a little "warming" himself, as I think he may be the only person in politics that looks like he may have died a few years ago and someone forgot to tell him.

It's called GLOBAL WARMING you tool, not Colorado Warming. It means WORLDWIDE overall increase in temperature, not a cold winter in Colorado. Also, global warming takes time. If you analyze the AVERAGE temperature through the year, it was warmer this year than last year. Keep your mouth shut if you don't know what you're talking about.

The changes I remember from the movie could hardly be noticed. The cycle of the seasons has never been totally predictable. It has been a brutal winter. I hope the Summer is mild.

Unusual cold can be a symptom of global warming. It doesn't mean that everything everywhere is getting warm.

Today, a 25 square mile ice shelf fell off in Antartica.
