i was wondering if you could b 16 because one of my friends said that is how old you have to b to get it without parental consent. but i want to make sure. thanx

I'm from Iowa and there is actually no state law that states an age for belly button piercing. But many counties or cities have set laws. When I was in high school five years ago, in story county you could be 16 without parental consent and get it pierced, but in polk county you had to be 18 to not have parental permission.
Your best bet would to call a tattoo and piercing place in the county or city you would like it done and ask them.

I don't think you can do it at 16 without parental consent. I live in Iowa, my son is 16 and had to have my permission to get his ears pierced or they refused to do it.

You have to be 18 to do anything like that to your body without parent signature anywhere in the country. And i seriously question whether you are mature enough to take care of a piercing since you don't want them to come with you and seem as if them coming with would be out of the question

You should talk to your parents. I am a very open mother and I would rather my daughter come to me first. Once you lose the trust of your parents it is very hard to gain it back. What if you develop an infection and need medical attention? Do you want to have to worry about how your going to hide this from your mother. She's not stupid, she'll figure it out.

EWW! why would you want to get your belly button pierced? They look disgusting! If you plan on doing it without parental consent..they will find out and probably ground you!

Strictly speaking, there is no age requirement. To do something like that you only have to be ignorant.
