I know what you mean. There's no reason to be saying things like that. But recently there's been no such thing as curse words, and people have been saying he|l, s---, f---, etc, openly and not feeling sorry about it. n---- is no exception. its a crying shame, but until people realize there's no excuse for using words like that, I don't know whats going to happen except it will become acceptable as the s word and f word have become.

You're right, the word should not be used anymore in ANY context.
Whites get confused about how to relate to black people. We want to intigrate our society, to include ALL races, so we listen to black people to learn how you communicate. You HAVE to admit, we talk different! If white people hear blacks using the "n" word in a positive or humorous way, we don't know what to do with it. Is it not discrimination if its okay for one race to say something but not okay for another?
It's interesting. I once saw an older white guy working in a convenience store attempt to use african american style slang (not the "n" word) in an effort to be friendly. The black guys were offended and wouldn't even talk to him. Who do you think was being unfair?

Well I don't know where you're hanging out, but no other race around me say's that word to me or around me. - Now relatives and a few other ignoramus friends do. Unfortunatley it's a bad slang picked up from someone in our family. I remember my own mother using the term "n" please. I did too when I was younger but I grew up out of it because no said it anymore. It's still out there but not as much as it was in the 70's, 80,s. Believe it or not it's gotten alot better but I agree it needs to completely stop. So I would say make an example for everyone. You can't control what anyone else say's, but you can control what you say.

Either one of two things can happen to solve this dilemma: Black people quit referring amicably to each other as ******* or black people just stop being offended by that word. I don't see the latter happening.

The better question is: Why is the word ****** the only one bleeped out? Why isn't "chink" or "cracker" bleeped out? Apparently it is ok to say cracker, or chink, but it isn't ok to say ******. That's racist against Asians and whites.

I feel you, but when white people started calling blacks that they did mean it in a derogatory way. Then people tried to give it a meaning that you could refer to anybody with. The truth of it is that when we (blacks) us it, it means friend, homey, my dog, my n1gga. So we never mean it in a derogatory way my n1gga
