Nine out of ten girls have a period that lasts less than a week. The average is 4,7 days. The time between the first day of your period and the first day of your next period is called the menstrual cycle. The average menstrual cycle is 28 days. Some girls have their period every three weeks, while others have it every 5 weeks. Cycles shorter than 3 weeks or longer than 6 weeks are considered abnormal. But once you first start menstruating it’s only a problem if you have your periods very often and loose a lot of blood. But it’s perfectly normal to skip periods, even 6 in a row. Periods often stabilize only after about two years. If you note the day you start your period in your pocket calendar every month you might discover a pattern after 4 or 5 months, knowing when to expect your next period.

Between 5 and 7 days. However, with a first period it could be wonky the body getting used to it and all. You don't ovulate in your first period so it might take some time until your cycle is regular. Read all about first periods in the source.

Congrats on getting it!

Your first period is usually really short (3-4 days) or really long (1-1 1/2 weeks).

I think that mine was really long, but then the next couple were only 3-4 days long.
I hope I helped! If you are ever in too much pain, take Midol or Motrin IB (Motrin is a stronger Ibuprofen)
Good Luck!!!

As it's your first period it will probably be anywhere from 5 - 8 days. That's what most young girls experience. It may be every 28 days, but at first (for perhaps a year) it may fluctuate between 22 - 30 days. Do you have a mom or guardian you can talk to?

Anywhere from 3 to 7 days. Mine last for three and a half days. My friend last for 7 days. Depends on how lucky you are. I don't know if you are sexually active. (I hope not yet!!!!), but that can affect your period as well, some girls stay on longer and some will go off.

depends on the girl. Most last 3-5 days. A week is still within the norm. I know a girl who never stops bleeding and instead has heavy and light periods of it. It fluxuates for everyone.

When I'm not on BC, mine lasts for 5 days. It can be normal to have one for 3-9 days depending on how your body deals with it. And when I was 12 and had my first period, it was not a "normal" one. It took a few months for it to get regular and dependable.
