I don't really care one way or the other. It doesn't affect me. I wish government would stay TOTALLY out of marriage altogether.

No. I do not support any marriages.
Marriage is something between a man and a woman as an act of unity for GOD. Therefore, marriage should be left to the religious people. It should not be a government issue.
Many people only get married because of the financial benefits in the eyes of the government. Gay/Lesbian men and women only want to be married because of the financial benefits and the recognition.
All government issued marraiges should be completely banned. The government should have no say in any marriages. It should be left up to the church of the couple. There should be no marriage licenses or marriage papers. If two people marry, they should have the license and papers in their hearts. They don't need a sheet of paper to remind them or to forever bond them.
Me, personally, I could go all my life without getting married. I am atheist and, after all, do not see the purpose in it. I can love someone without having a wedding ring on. I can devote my life to someone and be faithful to them 'til the day I die without that formal paper.
So, no, I do not support gay marriage because I do not support ANY government involvement in marriage.

Denying gay people the right to marry has a wider social impact than I think we're acknowledging. I was once involved in a serious inter-racial relationship. I was surprised at how often people would say racist, or hateful things to us when we went out (and I live in a very liberal city, so I can only imagine how bad it must be to be in that situation in a more conservative environment). Those instances hurt me, and have stayed with me to this day. By denying gays the right to marry, we're contributing to the notion that gay relationships are somehow "not right", or not as acceptable as heterosexual relationships. Whenever I hear something about the debate over gay marriage, I think back to how difficult it became for me and my boyfriend to go out, so afraid that our evening would end in nastiness, hatred and fear. I wonder how much worse it would have felt to go out in public, knowing that the majority of people around us felt our relationship was so unacceptable that they had to get together to pass a law to make sure we never marry. Personally, I would never want to think that I was responsible for making people feel that way because of who the are or who they love. If you are ok with sending that message, you need to admit that yours is not a philosophy of love and tolerance.

I support civil marriage for homosexual couples. As for religious marriage, that matter is up to individual religions.
The Bible is not a sufficient justification for prohibiting a practice in a country whose constitution mandates the seperation of church and state. If two gay people are in a loving and committed relationships, that relationship should be able to be recognized by the state as a fully legal partnership on par with a heterosexual union.

I am an ordained minister, I have performed marriages in the past, yet never a gay marriage. If I was asked... I would absolutely do so. People are people, why should gay people not be allowed to marry... "BECAUSE MARRIAGE IS A SACRED BOND BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN" Thats it.... thats youre entire arguement... To the whole world i say, Lighten up, and quit being such a f*ckin ********.

Americans once said that blacks should not be allowed to date, have sex, and/or marry white people. Today it's more acceptable, with some racists out there.Since I think it's stupid to say interrcial dating is wrong, I think it's stupide to say gay marriage is wrong. If I say it is wrong, that means I believe that love doesn't matter, it's what people think that matters. Which means that loves doesn't matter with interracial dating if people feel it's wrong. But I like girls of any race, because I DO think is about love, nothing else. If I believed otherwise, I'd be a hypocrite like most of you.

Of course, because everyone has the right to be miserable and denied sex every time they forget to take out the trash. Also, gay couples will never have the Why Can't You Put The Toilet Seat Down Just ONCE arguement.

I support equal treatment under the law.
I do NOT support the State telling me who I can or cannot marry, so I don't support the State telling anyone else who they can or cannot marry.
So yes, I support the freedom of ALL Americans to marry if they choose, WHOM they choose (limited to people who can enter into contracts).
