friend
u can do that on ur own
without anyone comming and doing
but u will need
to do some configuration
proxy setting manually
from network
if it is a switch typed modem
or it is a dial up type modem
it is compulsory that a service man has to come
or if u have the networking cd with u , u can do that

You just hook it to cable line but you can't get to Internet you need ISP, you have to call the cable company to set your account active.

Yes, the setup process is fairly easy. Win XP will do most of the work but you may need to call your Internet Provider to get them your MAC address.
