than if you didn't respect them?

For example -
I currently work for an attorney who I have no respect for and I find myself "just doing my job" rather than going above and beyond. For every other employer I had (all of which I respected) I seemed to always try to do more than what was expected. And I have worked with many attorney's in the past - so he's not the first. But I really have no respect for him.

I think so. I think when you work for someone you respect you tend to work harder because you like that person and really want to see them succeed. On the other hand, if you don't respect that person as much you usually just do the work that is required nothing more and nothing less.

So, yes you generally work harder for someone you respect ( at least I do anyways :] )

Well if you have no respect for the person you are working for or work with then you would want to get away or rid of the person you are around.

Is it just respect that you don't have for him or do you just not like him? It is difficult to work w/people you don't like. I think it makes a huge difference in every aspect of your life when you are around negative, mean, nasty people.

Yes, because you feel a connection with someone you admire. You have a greater sense of self when you are a part of a team effort.

yes, working with someone you don't like may demotivate you somehow. But don't let this jeapordize you at work cuz never know what a boss can do when he/she does not like you too.
