Not always. Sometimes it can stem from a lack of validation from people one would normally look to for such things. I can tell you that my personal insecurities stem from a lack of attention from my mother when I was a teenager, among other things. I think another reason behind my personal insecurities is simply that I've always been shy, self-conscious, and quiet, and I've never really been encouraged to be any other way. It's said that we cannot blame what we don't like about ourselves on our parents, but that parental influence certainly plays a big part of who we are, for good and for bad.

I really feel embarrassed using myself as an example, but I suppose that I'm the best example I know.....

Insecurity often stems from too much experience. Being betrayed by others, etc. . People making promises they don't intend to keep. These kinds of experiences contribute to a sense of insecurity.

I think it does. If you are in public doing a performance, such as acting, singing, playing an instrument, juggling, or whatever, you will feel nervous or insecure UNLESS you have loads of experience to get you through. That could also pertain to normal life situations, such as meeting someone unexpectedly. You may be shaken up by the meeting, but if you have lots of experience in that type of situation, you will roll with it and not feel insecure.

Good question. I think insecurity comes from a multitude of things - the think the biggest reason one is insecure would be a lack of self esteem.

No, insecurity has alot to do with how you were raised by your parents and how your siblings interracted with you when you were young. You can have tons of worldly experience but still be insecure.

No, after many years, many travels and many experiences, I still have some pretty deep insecurities.
So there must be some other explanation.

Damn, stop making me examine myself!
lol

Validation.
That may be it.
Well done, young priestess.

That can be part of it, but ususally it's from earlier experiences where people were cruel to you.....put you down. These could have been parents, siblings, or classmates. You need to find your own best qualities & be proud of them.
