Well I live in Portugal, and most of my friends think anime is weird and HATE japanese music. They're so ignorant that they think japanese music is the style of music that usually play on the Chinese restaurants.

Well, first of all they probably think it's weird because they can't understand it AND/OR they don't like the type of music(pop).

Since it's different, you're going to get a lot of people asking why you like something so *different*, but they aren't fans of jpop in the first place.

Maybe it's also because they don't like anime themselves, which is the biggest reason why my friends think my music is weird. Whatever their reasoning, ignore them and play your music loud and proud!

You like it and that's cool! Music is a work of art, and it comes in different styles. I love anime, Japanese and chinese music! Don't listen to the bad things your friends are saying about it.!

it's probably because they can't understand the song since it's Japanese.... or maybe they don't appreciate the singer's vocals.

I actually love j-pop / j-rock. It is because the songs that I listen to are opening or ending songs of the series that I watch.

that is one factor too, maybe they don't like anime.
