Genesis' slogan was "Genisis does what Nintendon't", is that true?

The Genesis was based off a purely 16 bit CPU, unlike the 8/16 hybrid 65816 used in the SNES. The CPU in the Genesis had a higher clockspeed, although the graphics chip in the SNES made this largely a moot point.

The Genesis had an expansion (the Power Base Converter) which let it run most of the old Master System games. The SNES didn't have any backward compatibility with the NES.

The SegaCD addon gave the Genesis a CD-ROM drive. The SNES used cartridges until the very end.

The 32X addon, though kinda flaky, was at least an attempt to expand the Genesis into a 32-bit console. The SNES had no such expansion.

Sega licensed their technology, leading to the creation of systems like the JVC X-Eye which improved the sound & video output of the Genesis hardware and came with a CD drive right out of the box. Nintendo didn't have any deals of the sort.

And, perhaps most importantly, Sega allowed blood in the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat. Nintendo insisted that the blood in the SNES be recolored as grey "sweat".

So, yeah, Sega did a lot of cool things in the 16-bit era that Nintendo didn't.

"Genesis does what Nintendon't" was a advertising ploy used by Sega in the early 90's.. Back in the day when SNES and Genesis were the top 2 competetors in the video game world.

I'm suprised someone else actually remembers that.
