I know this question is asked a lot, but I want to know how long the antibiotic is still in my body?

The only difference is that I only took the antibiotic for one day (i know you are supposed to keep taking it, i don't need a lecture.) I had a UTI and was taking 500mg pill of Ciprofloxacin. I only took the 2 pills that are required in one day and my symptoms cleared up very quickly. I want to know what kind of threat this poses to my bc pill (I take ortho tri-cyclen lo). I am 'scheduled' to start my period next tuesday.

Does anyone know how long it would last if I only took it the one day? And, does anybody know where I can find statistics on birth control and antibiotics? Thanks =]

There aren't many good statistics on birth control and antibiotics that I'm aware of. The only one proven to be a problem is Rifampin... others, when taken with the pill, have been shown to cause breakthrough bleeding, indicating they alter the absorption of the pill, but not the effectiveness.

For safety, I'd suggest that you should use backup b.c. while you are on the antibiotic and for seven days afterwards. A lot of family planning organizations suggest this, and I think it sounds good.
