Defense
With the nation facing unprecedented threats, our military needs to remain the world's best. We must adapt the Pentagon to face 21st century threats such as global terrorists and loose nuclear weapons in the former Soviet states. Senator Obama is working to ensure that the nation's defense capabilities are strong, agile, and prepared and that our troops are provided with the equipment they need.

Seniors
As we transition to an increasingly global economy, many Americans are at risk of being left behind through no fault of their own. Among those most affected by these changes are senior citizens, many of whom are on fixed incomes. We need to modernize our social safety net to help senior citizens meet these new challenges, but we also must preserve those elements, such as Social Security and Medicare, that have enabled us to fulfill our moral commitments to our parents and grandparents.

Crime
Senator Obama is a strong proponent of tougher measures to fight crime, in part

I like Obama, he's authentic, he's upbeat, he has some good ideas. The President needs to be able to set the tone for the country, and to make the hard decisions when they have to be made. I think he has the moral fiber, and the strength of character, to do an excellent job.

That said, I fear that America may not be as colorblind yet as all the polls suggest. (Also, I fear that some white, militia-joining, nutcase, might attempt to kill Mr. Obama in the name of "protecting the Fatherland" or the purity of the white race.)

However in the United States of America there is a senator with a 100 percent liberal voting record and he is Barack Obama. He will never be elected.

Obama will not be the democratic candidate in '008. The Dems will do what they did last time: shoot themselves in the foot by choosing a member of the party establishment. Last time they could have had Howard Dean, who would have been a great President. But because of one little 'scream' they chose a boring guy did not inspire voters. I know, it was fairly close in the end, but I still would like to have seen what would have happened if Dean was the candidate. No, I don't think the candidate will be Obama, nor will it be Clinton. It will be someone else.

Hi,

Al Franken hit the nail right on the head. I am a Democrat but one must remember, you should never hate your enemys, as this will cloud your ability to think clearly and to be able to recognize the truth when you see it.

Right on target Al,

Darryl S.

He and Hilary might be popular to the LIBERAL democratic core....but they can't be sold to America as a whole. Either one is a losing choice for Democrats. Republicans are smart enough to find electible candidates.....Democrats should learn from how they won in 1992.

Please state what you like about him. Facts, health give us the facts. Because at this point not too many people know chicken squat about the guy. So what is he? All I know is one thing, if the media is nuts about something I always view it with skepticism. don't believe the hype. After all hype is just well hype.
