open task manager and end the process "explorer.exe" and then run it for my
desktop to appear. I just installed new ram i dont know if it will help.

Another problem i have is when i try to open something it opens 20 minutes
later or it dosent open at all. I just installed Norton Internet Security. I

What typically happens is your user profile registry hive gets corrupted. This is the ntuser.dat file located in:

c:\documents and settings\[profile_name]

The only way to really repair this is to logon with another user acount that has administrative privileges rename the profile (don't delete it) and than log back on. Windows will build you a new profile. All you have to do than is copy your Favorites, My Documents and a few other folders over; excluding the corrupted ntuser.dat file

If you do not have experience with user profiles you're probably not going ot be able to fix this yourself.

The other problem I foresee based on the specifications for your computer:

Is not enough RAM. You should upgrade to 1GB.
