there will be an exothermic reaction, and a physical and chemical change. In short, it will burn, and you will end up with water and carbon dioxide.

It will carmelize. The sugar releases steam and turns brown because hydrogen and oxygen leave the sugar molecules as water, leaving behind smaller compounds. Not sure the exact reaction.
This should be exothermic, once it gets going, because sugar is an energy source.

The sugar will caramelize, and become more congealed. This is an endothermic reaction, since the sugar requires the heat from the fire to undergo this reaction.

If you melt sugar on your electric stovetop while stirring in xxxxxxxxx (available at your pharmacy) you can make incredibly powerful "candy caramel" rocket fuel, well known to rocket hobbyists for decades. Even if you don't melt it, the mixture is pyrotechnically active and good for all sorts of wicked fun.

I don't want any kids to hurt themselves which is why I'm not going to name the other ingredient. But I used to play with the (non-melted) stuff all the time in high school and managed to survive un-burned.

It could undergo both changes. First it melts, then turns into caramal. When it burns it puts off a deadly poison gas.

It will melt and there is no way to get it back to the white color. It turns brown and tastes really good! It is used on some cakes.

Have you ever had cotton candy? Thats what happens when you heat sugar (and spin it) The color of it is just added food coloring.

it decomposes into caramel(if i'm not wrong). It's brown in colour and the proces cannot be reversed to form sugar in its white solid state.
