I've been notcing recently that Asian women have really been popular with men of all backrounds. I no longer hear men talking about blonds, Latina's, or mixed girls any more, its all about Asian girls now. Why is that? Personally I think its because Asian women tend to be more feminine and have a great combination of beauty and personality. Asian women usually are in good shape where as the majority of women of other races are now obese. Asian women also work hard, age well, are respectful, very cute, appreciative, and carry themselves with class. American women these days are so masculine and nasty, they are basically men.

I'm with you in many regards but this is not a new phenomenon.
Asian women have long been considered beautiful in many respects as you have mentioned. Just look at the world of art to see some of this expression.
I also think that in this country we are becoming less rece conscious and women of all color and cultures are being recognized for thier beauty and femininity. Not many flannel shirts found in high fashion magazines.
Classic Asian art often presents the image of the woman as diminutive and perhaps even subservient but as the world matures we all seem to better recognize the more recherche`features in all women while understanding that it was they who were in charge all along.

Yes but, I found out that American women are the new standard of beauty in Japan. There are girls over there who are trying to copy the "American Ideal". So...white men like Asian women. I don't care that much. I prefer latinos and asians. I guess everyone's just getting bored of the same things.

i haven't been seeing that...and yeah i live in california too by the way...there r lots of stuck up asian girls too so i dunno what u're talking about...mmm...personally, i am petite, blonde hair, bluish green eyes, and really cute and nice and hard working and guys love me -- i'm definetly not asian...maybe u r just noticing the asian girls and ignoring the white girls and now that i see u were writing American women...u r talking about girls from the us? and asian girls from asia? if that is the case, u r totally and completely wrong!!! there r good and bad girls in every country...sure, there is nothing wrong with liking a certain race but...u go visit asia and then tell me how all the girls are so cute and respectful etc...there r lots of ugly ones and especially in societies like up class china(NOT HONG KONG)...there r even more little brats... people r people r people it took me living in another country, meeting up with people from all over the world, and having a foreigner live with me to realize that people are people are people...

i agree.

by the way ppl who disagree probably haven't seen a hot asian woman before but the ones with 'no curves' then start generalising that about asian women. Afterall, beautiful asians don't hang out in western countries.

bonzai betty and barbieq: i know where you are coming from because i've noticed as well. but the same thing could be said about western women in the eyes of asian ppl, they look a bit masculine and look like guys? so it's subjective.

While I cannot disagree with your sentiments about American women more strenuously, you have accurately described the *stereotyped*, idealized Asian female.

The popularity of the image of the eternally youthful, submissive (i.e., feminine in the traditional, patriarchal sense), hard working, and appreciative (i.e., she knows her place) woman is due to three factors:

1) American involvement in the Pacific front during World War II, when many grunts involved with the pacification of Pacific nations took Asian wives. In the US, these wives were accepted as rescued women - very traditionally feminine, indeed. Vietnam and Korea accelerated this image. (If you pay attention, you'll notice that a similar fetish is developing around Arabic and South Asian women right now . . . anything to do with the Middle East? Yes.)

2) Asians have become a "model minority" in the US - in other words, they have more successfully met white, middle-class standards of lifestyle than other groups. This is largely because there is no taboo against interracial white-Asian marriages - a product of WWII and Vietnam. Because of this, many white men who might otherwise be against interracial marriage find Asian women to be acceptable mates.

3) Perceptions that other women are becoming more manly are probably reactions to American women's increasing independence and power in this country. For men who prefer the more "traditional" or submissive style of femininity, Asian women - whose race bears the baggage I've described above - present an alternative to independent women. This is *not* to say that Asian women are actually more submissive, cuter, or any of that. That's a stereotype, and a damaging one at that!

While I haven't personally noticed any decrease in the appreciation of other kinds of women, Asian women have, over the past fifty years or so, become more and more accepted in the US as the very epitome of femininity. It really has nothing to do with Asian women being objectively more beautiful or more feminine than other women - it has everything to do with the history of race relations, gender relations, and warfare in the US.

No. You are very mistaken with your patent attempt to denigrate the average lovely American lass. Forget ethnicity, the American standard of beauty is the Hot Blonde: Pamela Anderson, Jessica Alba, Tila Nguyen, Beyonce Knowles...

I have to agree with you. Not because I am asian, but I also see this happening in society and when you described asian women, I also agree with you.

Personally I feel that beauty comes in all shapes sizes and races. Some woman behave differently than others but that doesn't mean that the whole race act that way.

boy somebody musta rocked your world. Standard has been what the media has chosen and it has never chosen well. blond blue eyed beauty is not standard it has just been shoved up our a***s as other beautiful women have been ignored and stereotyped. so it may be YOUR new standard but the media is just recognizing that real beauty has other ethnicites instead of just WASP.
