My Middle Toenail On My Left Foot Just Fell Off... How Long Will It Take To Grow Back?
It's really gross... the thing is, I have a fear of nail damage and I'm climbing up the walls about this. The soft flesh under it, the tenderness, all my other toenails are painted red and that one is just empty... it's gross.

How long will it take to grow back?

I don't want to scare you out but the nail takes several months to grow.

The best thing to do is : keep is protected when you go out with some kind of plaster that lets it breath and use appropriate ointment to keep it hydrated.
And also, when you are home, try to let it breath, without anything on it, and leave it in warm water (that helps reducing the soreness).
I've lost a fingernail before and know how much it hurts...good luck then

Ok, first of all, calm down. I know it's annoying and hurts like hell, but you should be just fine.

I've had to deal with serval of these myself.
My Autistic son has gotten his pulled out before, and they grow back just fine. He's got a bad habit of jamming his nails or biting them completely off.

What I do for him is I take some antibiotic ointment and put it on a bandaid. Then I wrap the bandaid around the area of the lost nail. That will pad it until your comfortable with the feeling or the sensitivity is over with.

It's going to take a while to grow back, a few months most likely, depending on how fast your nails grow.

The main thing is to keep and eye on it and make sure infection doesn't set in. If your toe stays tender after a week, call up your Dr. A good checkup can't hurt.

Other than that, you just have a wait it out.

You probably had a pair of shoes that was too short....sometimes when a nail presses into the end of a shoe for too long...they can fall off...Just relax...I have had several come off...not a big deal...it will grow back with a normal nail.
Good luck.

Several months , take the polish off the other nails so you don't draw attention to them .
Injury is usually what makes a nail fall off ,It turns black under the nail first .Or a bad fungus. You need to see a doctor for that .
Good Luck .

Are you in Australia? go to a doctor who bulk bills, it costs nothing. My son has had his ingrown toenail done, it did cost for the antibiotics but not for the doctor or the procedure.

My sons fingernail fell off due to getting it smashed in a car door, yes it looked awful and it took 2 months for it to come back.

Don't cover it up with a band aid-let it breath...It will be okay. A doctor won't do anything about it because they wouldn't my sons. Keep it clean, use peroxide
