I am going on a trip in the coming summer of 2007 to France, Italy, and Greece, so I need a lot of money, and I have only about 5 1/2 months left to fundraise.

I am part of a student ambassador program and this is an educational trip, with many activities and things to do.

I was thinking of selling Smencils (http://smencils.com/fundraising.html). In your opinion, would you buy a smencil for $1?

I'm also planning to work, ask for sponsorships thorough emails and letters, sell things on Ebay, recycle, and save any money I have left.

What kind of ideas you do have that are effective?

Rather than selling a product, why not just ask people for money? Otherwise, you're just a salesman for a company.

To ask for money, make up a list of people you think might help. Sit them down, tell them what you want to do, and ask for their help. They may be able to donate things to sell on ebay, or they may give you money directly. Ask if they'll give a house party so you can ask their friends. Or, will they hold a party and collect some money at the door for you?

The more people you can engage, the better you'll do.
