yes, why wait until it's sluggish to restart it? I don't need it on while I'm sleeping so I am only wasting electricity and adding to the possibility of starting a fire. Did you know, the large majoity of house fires are started by electrical equipment left in standby mode? I also have broadband so I would rather be nearby if anyone is trying to back door me.

I turn it off every night. I'm told that might not be a good idea because of the wear and tear on the hard drive during the start-up process. I'd rather not pay for the electricity when I'm not using it.

If I'm downloading or seeding something I leave my computer on but if not then I turn it off.

Yes. Mine is in my room as we are renovating our home office. It is much too loud at night for my hubby. He'd awake at the sound of a pin drop.
