I have a problem with one of my best mates. he buys something e.g. clothes, trainers, jackets. He would use them to the maximum amount of time which is a good thing because you have paid for it but..... He would have minimum amount of clothes in his wardrobe for e.g. 2 trousers, 2 tops, 1 jacket 1 trainers and he would wear them for a year or two. As a friend i'm cool with that but i heard other people bad-mouthing my mate saying how cheap he looks. financially he is healthy so i dont see why he would not would to go shopping. i have tried several time to tell him about going shopping and he says he is happy with what he has. can you please help me as he is a really good friend of mine and i feel for him

you have to be honest with him... tell him in a friendly way that he looks a bit strange in that he wears the same thing day after day. maybe do so along with a gift of a new shirt or something to add to his wardrobe. i know its weird to do so ... but you need to make him aware that he is coming off bad to others so much that they make comments behind his back.

I'd say that your friend is very appreciative with what he has; he may just not want to go shopping because he does not need anyhing more (in his opinion). As for the "bad-mouthers", they are just insensitive jerks for their teasing and taunting and insults. Just try not to tell your friend to get new clothes- if you push him, he may just get mad and tell you "BACK OFF!" or something. You may lose a friend if you keep forcing/asking/telling him to go shopping.
