Yes, I've quit the only 2 proper jobs I've ever had! The first time I decided I wanted to move out of the city I was living in, so I did that and then went travelling. The second job was pretty dull, so I decided to retrain in a different field. It's quite a satisfying feeling - you really feel in control of your life.

Yes, because I was being bullied in the workplace by a horrible and sadistic boss. I wish I hadn't quit - but the union let me down. I should have gone for constructive dismissal or stayed and gone off sick with depression. I made it far too easy for my boss and would not advise anyone to quit without a fight especiaaly if you don't have another job lined up. If in doubt, get advice from an employment lawyer.

Yes, I used to be a teacher, and I was hating it. It made me really unhappy and was changing my whole personality. I did it for six years, and as I was starting to get ill, I just quit one day. I went in and passed a letter to the Headteacher, saying I was leaving. Everyone was supportive, and they tried to make me stay, but when I made it clear that I wanted to leave, they were great. Most people seemed to think I was really brave to just leave, without anything else to go to, but I had nothing to lose really. I had to work til the end of the academic year, which was another couple of months, but because I knew I was leaving, it wasn't too bad. Then the next day after I finished, I went into a temp agency and got random office work - half the pay, but much much nicer. Leaving teaching was the best move in a long time, and I've never regretted it.

yes, i have had to quit a great job due to the fact that i came down with interstitiial pulmonary fibrosis which is a lung disease (that is not contageous)....and i did not want to quit because i loved the job i had......at the time my pulmonary doctor did not think that i would recover, in fact i was told that i was 12 hours away from death and he could not see any way that i would recover in time to return to work !!!! i worked for an HMO for 25 years and he did not think that i would have the stamina to keep up with the others on the job. i felt robbed, because i had earned
so much seniority, in fact i was the most senior person with the company and having to quit medically would have put my seniority at the very bottom of the totem pole. ...i would have lost everything only to start at the very bottom again and i couldn't bear the thought of starting all over again i mean, come on, think about it.....after working for a company for all that time only to be starting at the bottom, again!!!!! i went to my current supervisor and asked if i could work up to my same stamina again and she, being a minority said, no way due to the fact that i had to be on oxygen 24/7. i mean my portable oxygen was the size of a
small back pack so, i just felt really cheated and betrayed by everyone......does anyone feel that i got a raw deal???????
well, it feels that way to me.......and i am really sad over the situation.......and i think at this point it is too late to bring in the
big guns, and if anyone who could help me at this point, i would really appreciate it but really , i do think it is a lost cause.
thankyou for lettling me share.................

i half quit
You know in TV shows you get the "I quit" "You cant because i fire you" thing, It was like that!!!
My manager was constantly telling me how to do the job, she wanted it done quickly but wanted it done her specific way which was taking me twice as long because it was quicker to do it the way i knew how to, anyhoo every shift for about a week she was giving me an earful about what i hadnt done or what i had done this particular day she gave me this earful about some work i should have done on the Friday but hadn't done because she hadnt told me that i had to do it ( if that makes sense) anyhoo so i am getting worked up and in the end i stand up and grab my bits turn to her and tell her that i quit becuase i wasnt there to be shouted at every shift, as i was leaving she turned round and said that she was giving me a weeks notice anyway. and with that i left and that was that. Dramatic eh?

I have quit for a better job. I have quit because working conditions were not to my liking. I have quit because I didn't like a boss.

I have quit two jobs, one due to school reasons, and second cuz I just did NOT enjoy working in the food services. However, for both, i submitted a 2 weeks notice and used the "working has begun to affect my academic life" and then they let me off w/o any problems.
