MAC has its advantages in the world of Art. Graphic designers use it almost exclusely.
But sharing data, documents in the business world means PC (IBM). With the PC, you get people that are trained on standardized tools. You reach 90 percent of the computer literacy and funtionality.
From a security point of view, the MAC wins. Many people that use MACs on-line simply don't have anti-virus programs. MAC users don't even know what SpyWare is.
So it all depends on what you intend to do with it.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

Apple gave us awesome service. They loaded us up with almost $600 of new stuff: hard drive, optical drive, etc., and gave us a version of the new Tiger OSX software that isn't on the market yet. We just had a problem burning discs. We were going to replace this machine. Now we practically have a new one. Love Mac.
Buy a Mac. We endorse them. Mac users suffer less viruses; we never had one. You could run Windows Word on Mac. With the new Intel Processors, you could run two computers - PC and Mac - on the Mac. Despite the processors, I think Mac has less bells and whistles than PC (say Dell) at price point. Macs are scaled down, without the fat. There is less software on the market for Mac. Nevertheless, Macs are far more sophisticated, easier to program, easier to use, less steps to everything, and you can control a multimedia center with them. You take them of the box, plug it in and it works. Apple is known for its service. I don't know that much more about computers. Good luck. Get a Mac.

Go with Mac. Macs CAN run Windows games with BootCamp.
Besides that, there's a million and a half reasons to choose a Macintosh. I've answered this questions about a hundred times. Just go browsing through my previous answers, my fingers are tired. I love telling people about the Mac, but I think I'm getting carpal tunnel.

Neither is better. Each one has a primary market.
You also have to keep in mind that if you are a traditional PC person you're going to have to make that jump. There will be a learning curve.
The primary market for MAC's is Video Editing. For PC's is common end user applications.
Both platforms have problems.
Pick your poison.

If you want games, go windows. Macs just don't have the selection and verity that the pc has(for both games and graphics cards). Otherwise go mac.
