My best thought is that alive he still has a voice and that voice gathers supporters.

The world is a better place without him.

He is better off dead so that we can have new, fresh villains.

Like in the Greek story of the hydra, martyrs become stronger when they die. We need to kill him off so we can have re-newed stronger terrorists with vengeance for Sadam to drive them. Otherwise we will have to resort to focusing on our own problems and that would be embarrassing.

On the other hand, he is guilty of being caught and that could become boring. Therefore he should be executed as a scapegoat before we have time to change our minds.
Heaven (or Allah) forbid he should reform himself! If we do not kill him off quickly he will be doing the day time talk show scene!!!

He does not have to be dead to be punished. To keep him locked up 24/7 in solitary confinement would be hell on earth for him. No books, no radio, no human contact, just a lot of time to be miserable. Provide a shower twice a week and make him bath in laundry soap. (It itches.) When he has to see a doctor or something that does require a human contact, make him dress in a humiliating way, or make him go naked. No heat in the winter, no fan in the summer. NEVER let him out of the cell. Just misery. Do not make him a martyr. Even after he is dead, say that he still lives.
