If you want him to have to go through the hassel all his life of spelling his name repeatedly, having people not know how to pronounce it, and having to explain where he got the name, then sure.

Hello,

Edsel, like the automobile?

I do not think this is a good idea.

If you are expecting your son to be ridiculed, mocked, beat up on, then yes, why not go with the name Edsel. Otherwise, pick a name more fitting for today. We are in the year 2007. How about Sam, David, Daniel, Jackson, Scott, Chris, Noah, Jonah....

Hope this helps you.............. : - O

Because of the car, Edsel has become a term that means something that was spectactlarly unsuccessful. I would not do that to a helpless child! You could name him "Ed" and people would think it meant Edward or Edmund, but don't make the poor child go through life with a name that labels him as a total failure.

No. An Edsel is a car that wasn't successful in the automotive market.
Pretty much of a dud. You want him to be known as a dud?

Do your son a favor, and name him something that won't get him teased.

Personally I don't like this name but just my opinion. Does this name have significance to you? Just a thought think about when the child goes to school, will he want ppl to know his name or will he hate it?
