It's not too bad. I mean I'm not saying it's fun, but I rarely get cramps or any pain. Don't know how old you are but some girls don't get their periods until they're 16. You'll survive it just fine.

The pain is the least of your worries. There's pills like Midol that you can take for pain. What you should be more worried about is how your going to prepare for when it happens. Sometimes before your period starts you'll experience mild cramps. In your case I would take that as a warning sign and stack up on pads, not tampons. I'm not saying this because they're wrong or something, but because you should start off learning more about how menstration cycle works before moving up to them. Be sure to carry some with you to school and extra clothes if you need them, or at least a sweatshirt so you won't be embarrassed to have people looking at your butt as your going to call your mom. Don't worry, because it may seem like a big responsiblity now. Your friends may be in really pain now, but I don't think that compares to anything after seeing my sister in labor pain. Cramps x1000!

well, some gurls dont get it till they are 17! yes 17! it sucks but some gurls i know only get headaches no cramps just head aches! while other gurls i know dont even go to school b/c they are in so much pain! but u can reduce ur cramps by not drinking soda. For every can of soda u drink u it increase ur Cramp pain by 200%. So if i were u i'd drink juice and water. Also take asprin, it'll help with the pain. and a Heating pad to put on ur lower belly. The heat reduces the cramps. also cold weather makes it worse so u may want to stay warm. This is only if you have pain, you might you might not. this is something u just cant avoid, it sucks i know!

It's just a natural part of growing up. The pain is not necessary, personally, I think that most people just think it will be painful, so they let act like it is.
I rarely, if ever, have pain associated with my period. But I know that limiting salt and increasing leafy greens (salads.....) the week before and during my period, helps my body.
I highly suggest a book called "The Care and Keeping of Your Body". It's by the American Girl Series. Check it out of your library or buy it ...(my DD refers to it quite often.....and it was only $10 at Barnes and Noble).
You can also read more about menstration on sites like www.tampax.com or other feminie hygiene sites.
PS -- Talk to your mom, aunt or other trusted adult !!!!!

By "yacky", do you mean "yucky" or talkative?
Menstruation is a natural part of life. I take a different view on menstruation than most women do, but most women are brainwashed by Kotex ads and other trappings of patriarchial society. Read C u n t by Inga Muscio. Become woman positive. Love yourself and your body and your blood.
Your blood is a sign of fertility.
You sound like you're about 10 or 11, so don't sweat it, one of my best friends in high school didn't get it until she was nearly 16, in her sophomore year. It varies from girl to girl. If you're really concerned, ask your mother how old she was when she had her first period. (If you have sisters, ask them, too.) This will give you a basis for when to start watching for it.
If you're worried about starting while you're out somewhere (like at school), start carrying a purse, and always keep a clean pair of panties, a Ziploc bag, and a pad in your purse. (The bag is for the dirty panties.) Make sure you're ready for it, and know how to use a pad. I don't recommend using tampons until you're a little older, and maybe not until you're an adult and have become sexually active (I am counting on you waiting until you're out of high school so that you get your diploma), because tampons tend to hurt virgins. (I would know, I was a virgin who tried to wear a tampon once, long ago.)
Anyway, hopefully this will help you.
Not everyone gets cramps. My older sister gets debilitating cramps, like she can't get out of bed for three days because she's in so much pain, but as long as I keep my body in constant motion and remember to breathe, mine don't hurt as bad. Some girls don't get them at all. (My sister, at least, does not have to worry about cramps for the next several months - their baby is due in July!!)
Anyway, as I was saying, I hope this helps you and answers your question.

It comes at different times with every girl. I got it at 14, but my mother did not get it until she was 17. When it does happen and the pain seems like it is too much to handle take midal, it works. Also stay away from caffine, it makes cramps worse, and drink los of water it will make your flow alot lighter.

Having your period is nothing to be afraid about. The cramps don't hurt that bad. Some girls just over exaggerate their's but occasionaly you do get some pretty bad ones but you could take a pain killer like Advil,Tylenol, etc. It is pretty gross sometimes but you just have to change your pad or tampon daily. Also shower daily because the smell is awful.

All of my friends have had their period by now, except me. I want it now (except when I have it I'll probably wish I didn't).
Well, for hundreds of thousands of years all women have had it, so I think you'll survive. And some people have worse pain than others (plus some people don't even have the pain). And in our day and age we have things like painkillers and birth control (to regulate the periods and lessen the pain)

dont worry you'll get through it
every single girl goes through it
and the pains that your friends are having are called cramps
there are many ways to help soothe cramps like taking walks, taking a warm bath, midol, chocolate, and etc.
each girl has her own way...mines is chocolate and dancing
and dont worry about you not having your yet
every girl is different so therefore every girl has a different time
i started mines when i was 12 :[
and for more information on periods you can go to http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/girls/menstruation.html
