How long have cases had case fans? Did the pentium 3 PCs have them?

Most desktops have one or two fans on the case, as well as one on the processor and one in the power box. A pentium 3 would only have one case fan. It depends on the size of the case to the size of your fan

Usually they have one fan on CPU and one fan on Power Supply and some cases have on or two fans too cool the whole case
Some hard disk and graphic cards have their own fans
And yes, pentium III CPU needs fan!

There's two in mine, one 120mm and 80mm Antec stealth, most of the P3s should have had them(they had either fans or honkin' big heatsinks), if the air in your case isn't moved around then dust buildup can cause overheating and crashes.
