I have been noticing something odd about my roommates relationship with her girlfriend. First I see each one sleep on the couch from time to time. Second I hear about how my roommate is making out with other girls. Then her girlfriend has shown some fleeting interest in me then, her girlfriend keeps commenting about how she wants to see a real life man package again (in front of me no less) and, finally they keep saying how they will stay together forever over and over (to me an indicator of denial about how bad the relationship really is).

It may be nothing but is there something I should do to keep as safe as possible in case it goes nova?

Don't go for the girl until after the break up. Even after the break up wait until you find a new place to live, or better yet do nothing at all and just ignore her attraction. If you and your roommate are close then you need to be their for her, if not then stay as far away from her as possible until she gets better. Though if she's cheating she deserves it.

Just be prepared for a very emo roomie for a while.

Ain't life just grand?

Okay, first you should decide how far you're willing to take this...nip it in the butt, so to speak.

1) Both need to be told (preferably at the same time) that you will not be party to their personal life, that you have no intentions on taking either's side, that you will remain neutral throughout the entire ordeal.

2) Both need to be told (preferably at the same time) that under no certain or uncertain circumstances should either pursue you for any relationship other than a platonic one. NO IF'S AND'S OR BUT'S about it.

3) Repeat #1 & #2, and close the show. Do not get into a (no pun intended) tit-a-tat with them. Be nice and cordial yet be firm.

Considering your other question the best thing you can do is stay out of it.
