I am a first time writer writing a fantasy book...I know the story I have is good...as good as Christopher Paolini's Inheritance trilogy. I am just feeling a bit discouraged. Any suggestions?

There is always a group of people in the world that will love your book weither it be big or small. It will be famous to them. One thing for sure, it won't be famous if you don't publish it. Good Luck! ; )

Slim to none.

Write because you love to write and can't imagine a life without writing in it. Write for the sole purpose of trying to get famous and you will most likely end up frustrated and miserable. Same goes for actors, visual artists, and other creative people.

When you're feeling discouraged, write. No, really. Write about how bad it feels to feel discouraged and frustrated and angry. Write about how stupid you think your ideas are or how you're talentless or whatever is going through your mind at the time. Doing this can have enormous therapeutic value, plus the incessant blathering of your inner critic won't have so much power over you once you've pinned him or her to the page. You may also find something in your ravings and rantings that just might spark your confidence and creativity all over again.

The best writers do this. I do it. Give it a whirl, 'k?

Hate to say it, but the chances are slim to none. But, if your book is good, there is a chance and don't be discouraged. Just because your book might not become famous, doesn't mean you shouldn't pursue something you love!

let's see...
1. find a good and well connected editor. Of course it helps.
2. Write your book in a language like english or french. Then don't need a translation.
3. a little bit of sex, a little bit of adventure, and a happy end. But just a little bit: don't be too honest or rude. That don't sell a lot of books.

Unfortunately, you will probably find you cannot even get a literary agent that alone a publisher to take your work on. It seems that these days that unless you are a no talent celebrity, or an established writer you won't get anywhere.

It's really a you either make it or you don't kind of thing. To see if it might become popular, go to fictionpress.com (what used to be fanfiction.net's sister site for Oringal Fiction) and create an account (I believe its free) and upload your story.

Then advertise it on any blog you can, and see if it grows in popularity. Might give you a good idea on if you should pitch it to a publisher or not.

The chances are great if you believe it. And they aren't great if you believe that... It's all about attitude. Passion for something comes thru in whatever you do and say so stay passionate about your book. Stay positive. You can do it!
