Well its not exactly like they are capable of logical thinking, they support Bush.
Honestly wouldnt you be more surprised if they didnt equate hating Bush with loving Saddam?

We don't, but many of those who say the worst things about Bush also express sympathy for Saddam. Those are the people who we say hate Bush & love Saddam.

"Why do right-wingers equate hating Bush with loving Saddam?"
Because ultra-conservatives see the world in terms of diametric opposites. They have a hard time processing the middle-ground. They can't respond to something they don't understand, so they redefine it in terms they can understand.
It's not really their fault. They have...umm...limitations. :)

It's some kind of weird value system, if you don't agree, you hate America, love Saddam, support the terrorists, etc. etc.
I just don't understand anyone who does nothing but post inflammatory baiting questions, to each their own.

It is as logical as any of their other beliefs!
For instance, only they have the 1st amendment. No one else! This is their country so you all have to speak English. Ironic that German lost as being the official language of America by 1 vote!
I am not in love with Saddam, just as I was not in love with the Shaw of Iran that the CIA put into power by toppling a DEMOCRATIC government in Iran!
My issue is that we illegally unilaterally attacked a sovereign nation, bypassing the UN! And it was a nation that had nothing to do with 9/11 or terrorism!

With all due reality, I'm sure left-wingers, during WWII, equated hating FDR with loving Hitler

Because generalizing is what neo-cons do best. If you deviate in any way, shape or form from their lockstep mentality, you're obviously giving comfort to the enemy. That's how they framed it after 9-11....to question Bush's declaration of war on Iraq, was to support Al-Qaeda, Osama, and the ghost of Stalin.

Because they have been brainwashed by the right-wing propaganda mill to the point where they are incapable of intelligent thought. They just yelp their asinine little slogans on cue like Pavlov's dogs, oblivious to how stupid they sound to others when they do it.

they see everything in black and white. If you're not one thing, then you're the opposite. You're with us or against us. You agree or you're wrong.
