LCM of two integers a and b is ab/GCD(a, b), where GCD(a, b) means the greatest common divisor of a and b.
GCD(9, 12) = 3. So LCM(9, 12) = (9 * 12)/3 = 36, so the answer is (d).

Ok, here's my problem with your question.
NONE of these pairs of numbers is greater than the LCM you're asking about. "LCM" means LEAST common multiple.
How can the least common multiple be GREATER than the individual numbers without knowing what is happening with the numbers!?
How can anyone be respinding with any accuracy to this question man?

3, 6 .........LCM=6
3, 12.........LCM=12
6, 9 .........LCM=18
9, 12.........LCM=36
Therefore, the answer is D, which has a LCM of 36.
Hope i helped! :*
