I only had one side done. Due to a mastectomy. It does hurt. About 2 weeks recovery time.

First of all, they do not go "into your chest" - they go under the gland or under the muscle. (Inside the chest is called a thoracotomy, and that IS major surgery.)
Different surgeons use different techniques, and I think some are more painful than others. You will have a general anesthetic, so it doesn't hurt at all during, but will be a bit painful while you are healing. Remember, there is a lot of stretching that has to be done to fit the implant in, and it takes a while to get used to that. You'll have pain medications post-operatively.
One to two weeks to recover is the norm. You will still have some achiness for a little while, especially with raising your arms. It also takes a while for the implants to "settle", so they ride high for a few months.
I haven't had it done, but I anesthetize women for this all the time.

depends if theyre over or under the muscle, over muscle aint too bad, I hear its basically jus the skin thats 'disturbed' if ya can call it that, under muscle hurts like hell afterwards, they cut the whole way through the muscle so there alot more to heal, size and type of implants make a difference, you can sit up yourself if you take meds after four/five hours, can't lie down when your back home for around two weeks, have to sleep sat up, cant cut your own food/make a brew for day or 2 ( stuff they forget to tell you ) if they under muscle not meant do upper body exercise for years (dont tell you that until after) and is a good few months before you can train properly - like running and stuff. Most modern implants need a check up after ten years but they say should last a life time.

It hurts so much. You can't move your arms because if you use them you can get permenant bruising and so you have to have someone help you pee and bathe. You need someone to help you get up, lay down, and forget about driving for a couple of weeks. Also I had severe pain after about 2 years due to hardining of the scar tissue and that hurt to shower, wear a bra, not wear a bra, put on a shirt or take one off. I wish I never did it! The grass is not greener on the other side. It is the dumbest, most selfish and vain thing I have ever done.

So, louisa b wants to become louisa dd?
I'm guessing it will be sore for a while, they always are on the TV when they have them done. And that other respondent was correct, you have to get them re-done, rather than trust them not to age and rupture, causing VERY SERIOUS medical problems. Think about spending thousands every eight years. And what about your body? They change. My wife has gone up two cup sizes, from c to dd, in the last four years, yet she's still a slim UK size 8, 5' 5" tall.
This makes me very happy ;-))

The severity of the pain is similar to a titty twister times 10000.

A LOT, just think about why you want it done, then ask if its worth at least four weeks discomfort.
