Yep, The Veterinary profession records the highest average of Suicides out of all other professions, So no doubt having to put down Mr Fluff and convey the news to a traumatic family, and then off to insert your arm up Farmer Browns Herd of Fresians Arses, does take its toll, so a career in Dentistry does seem more attractive...

Most of these responses are correct. I don't understand how you're not thinking that they are serious.
A dentist rarely has someone's life resting on their quality of work.
Being a Vet and caring for several species who cannot communicate to us and say what's wrong is challenging.
If you're a Vet you (usually) don't go there for the money, so you care for animals. Perhaps they have had one too many deaths that they think they're responsible for. Or maybe they came to be an angry person because of the people that are so nonchalant about their pet's suffering, like...
Person: 'Oh, Buddy's getting old. Hmm. We don't want an old dog. Let's euthanize him!'
Doc: I'm not going to euthanize a healthy dog just because you don't want him.
Person: Really? Well, we'll just abandon him then! Or maybe take him to the shelter, because then we'll never know what happens and keep our conscience clean!
Doc: *Goes into office and breaks something, then starts to cry*
There are enough bad people out there that this happens more than you think. There's also the readily treatable disease that goes untreated because 'it's just a pet.' So the Doc, who started working because they loved pets, is hurt by these people and treatment of the animals.
Dentistry also seems to be a lot safer... don't have to spend half an hour hiding in a back room because someone's Great Dane is violent against men and you found that out AFTER it almost got away and tried to kill you.

Besides the money... maybe this vet enjoys dentistry more, or maybe he/she is sick of sick animals. I know it's a lot easier to be a dentist with a happy pet at home than to be a vet with a hundred sick animals at work. Less depressing. Or maybe he/she is just in for a change.

Tough?
This ones an easy one!
A vet has a limited amount of 'care' proteins available to him/her.
Once these have been used, the vet no longer feels the need to save animals and make their lives better.
So the change comes as a complete reversal.
Inflict as much pain as possible and be hated for doing it. (whilst charging an obscene amount of money)
Hence the career change from vet to dentist.

Beware all vets- this may happen to you! Pace yourself with the good deeds you do lest you become......

Fed up with spending too much time in the dog house...

...But will probably end up just feeling down-in-the-mouth!

(Or maybe just reasoned that facing other folks halitosis every day can't be as bad as getting bitten, scratched, peed on, and/or having to stand out in a field in the rain and wind stuck up to the armpit with your hand up a cow's ar*e!)

Dental patients are just afraid of pain. Otherwise, they don't complain too much.

Animal owners can be big pains in the butt. Overly fussy, pushy, demanding, too cheap to pay for a procedure and then get all mad when the animal dies, etc.

Dentistry has less fuss in that regards.

He was allergic to certain animals he had to work with. Probably an allergy to cat or dog fur should be enough to get him to become a dentist.
