after the download I have lost all my favourites, can someone please tell me where to find them again.

It's the STAR under the back up button in the upper left corner.

I am not sure why that happened to you...
Because, when I upgraded from IE 6 to IE 7, I had all my favorites and everything was working fine...
But, as you are telling me that you lost your favorites, I can tell you the exact location of your Favorites if at all they're still there...
*Go to My Computer>C: Drive>Documents and Settings>(Your User)>Favorites...
There you should see all your favorites... If they are not there in that folder then, they might have been deleted...

With the update, it deletes all your cache files, temp internet files, and history. You have to start from scratch again, set your home page, and go back to all your websites you had in the favorites list and re-add them.

IE 7 is almost totally different (in terms of how it integrates with the OS) from the previous versions of the browser
