Sounds Like you are having trouble with your teacher. That's not good Try to be extremely nice to her, get to know her. Keep the attitude out of it. You will do a lot better.

I don't think the majority of student really do hate teachers, I think most times they hate what teachers may represent, such as "difficult homework", red marks across their books, negatives reports where they may in fact humiliation the student etc. and so forth.
Teachers should make clear what homework is expected of them and clear any mis-understandings beforehand about the given homework. They should also be sure when they are marking books, not to make huge X's , as this especially gives an angry impression. Also, reports should not represent anything in a negative way- this mean a careful choice of wording to encourage the student. If anything needs to be said to parents about negative behaviour, it should be said in an arranged meeting.
On the other hand, students should also do their best to give their best effort in any given work.
I think teachers should try in a positive way to teach, correct work, and respect students as individuals too. The school or university life should be as positive as can be and the atmosphere a good one as students spent a huge part of their lives there.

I am currently a middle school teacher and I have also taught Junior High, High School, and sixth grade. I don't teach to have students as friends. I teach to help students understand the subject I am teaching (math). Teachers are "mean" to help you learn--at least I am. And the students who are there to learn really appreciate that I require other students to behave.
Think about what's going on with your teacher--if you think they don't like you because you are misbehaving, then behave. If there is something bigger, choose an appropriate time and talk to the teacher--I bet he/she doesn't even realize there's a problem.
Good luck. You may someday appreciate those "mean" teachers in your life. I know I do because I finally "get" some of the stuff I struggled with in school.

Lets turn this around shall we? What can students do so teachers respect them? FIrst keeping comments that are unneccessary to themselves. Look at your last sentence you have said they are wrong and you will say whatever you want but you want them to not dislike you, while you retain the right to be as rude as you want. Its not going to work. Change starts with you. The teacher is there as the head of the class and like it or not what they say goes. When you get into the work world, if you mouth off to your boss you will get fired. Adults of all ages realize you never, EVER insult the person who pays you or gives your your grade. Become a teacher and you can let your students be as rude as they like to you.

Well, I'm in middle school. My teacher's like to know about our life outside of school sometimes and that always makes me feel good because they're interested in me. I think that may be the best thing that a teacher can do to make the students like them. Or, they could be understanding of their problems and just like.... care about you more.

First of all, teachers are not there to be your friend. A teacher is there to teach. A decent teacher doesn't care if the students like you or not, as long as you have taught them something. As long as you try to actually teach them something, demand and give respect, believe it or not, they will love you. (even the day after you gave them a detention)

Keep an open mind and treat and teach students in a way that the teacher would expect to be treated and taught.

Teachers need to show their students that they enjoy seeing them each day. I made sure my kids knew that I was pleased to be there with them each day. I even went as far as shaving my hair once when all my kids showed up for an important exam.
Students need to be polite too or it will be hard for teachers to be happy about seeing them.

sometimes they have to continue to challenge the students and just be hated long enough to get the result.
once the student 'gets it,' and sees that they exceeded all they though they could achieve and that the teacher actually cares for their future, the hate dissolves.
i'm more thankful for that than any cool teacher there is.

I agree with you - they need to show us students a bit more respect! The only teachers that I actually respect are tthe older ones who are really respectful and helpful towards me, and the teachers i get on with are the rest who jus treat you as if your on their level, and joke around with you whilst teaching aswell
