How come after I had sex with my GF her vagina sounded like it was "farting", I guess releasing gases in a way...is this normal?

It's called a "queef". All it means is that you were having vigorous sex and your penis forced some air up there. After you're done, well... the air's got to come out some way.
Totally normal, although somewhat surprising if you are new to sex.
