In the UK you can smoke, get a license to drive a moped, play the national lottery, have sex, get married with parental consent (or without consent in Scotland), quit school, get a full-time job, choose your own doctor, drink wine or cider with a meal in a restaurant or pub, and you can apply for your own passport. :-)

He is allowed to drive for one. I don't know where you live but in Canada the law used to be that you can drop out of school at 16 without your parents' consent but that changed now. Now the age is 18, and by then your done high school anyways, so it's promoting better education for the new generation.

It varies. It depends on where you live. Where I live he cannot buy cigarettes - not until 19. He can get a learner's permit to begin driving lessons though. In some places, including here, he can drop out of school. He can do an adult job with adult hours in many places. However, he is still a minor, so when it comes right down to it, if he is living under your roof and is not an "emancipated minor", he can do what you allow him to do, within the limits of the laws of your area.

Such questions always depend upon the jurisdiction. For example, lots of folks say he can legally have sex. Not in California, where it is a crime to have sex with anybody under 18 (it is worse if the person is under 16) unless married (which can happen, for example if the marriage was in another state). He cannot buy alcohol of any percentage (he can't do that until he is 21 here).

sadly the way the law is now it seems they can do as they please until it is decided otherwise I think the thing now should be with what the parents say are their rules it is down to the parents all teenager will try and push to do what they want and if we were honest I'm sure we all did when we were that age they can have sex at 16 doesn't mean it's OK morals don't seem to matter much anymore or there would be no need for young offenders prisons sorry couldn't tell you exactly what the law is as you say it changes all the time

In the UK he can now have sex with a girl (not a boy as he has to be 18), purchase cigerettes (prob with I.D) watch 15 films with no problems, leave school, join the army, get a full time job and pay national insurance, marry with consent and all the other joyful things in life!

Law vary by state, but in many states he can drive. Other than that I'm not aware of anything specific that happens for them at that age. There are a lot of issues "out there" having to do with youth rights surrounding curfew, emancipation and so forth but many are unresolved. He's still a minor so in most ways he's still a "kid." But you should find out what the curfew is in your area just so that you and he are aware.

What country are you in?

In the UK you can have sex with anyone of either sex aged 16 and above, join the Armed Forces, get married with your parents consent. You can't borrow money, drive a car or buy alcohol.

I think that this is a very basic question. You should be more specific, I mean as far as that he can go to school, ride bike, with a helmet that is. Go swimming, running, jumping, boarding, skating, just about any other thing you can think of that is legal and there is no age requierment.

he's allowed to quit school with parents consent, get a junior drivers license and what ever else you would permit him to do.
Those who answered smoking are wrong as the legal age to buy cigarettes is 18 in the USA.
