I have about two days before I talk about something very serious to someone and I am already nervous now. I found out that wine doesn't help, so what will?

Stop with the wine.

Nervousness: Let go. The world is full of things that are completely beyond your control: the weather, the economy, the Nielsen ratings, and Justin Timberlake.

I don't blame any of those things on you, and you shouldn't either.

Add one thing to that list: the outcome of your talk. All you can do is discuss things as straightforwardly as possible, and they will decide how they want to receive your words. Don't make it about spin, make it about a mature discussion. Resolve the issue, whatever it is.

It may not go your way, but hopefully it'll get resolved. You only own half of the issue, so you can't ping about the whole outcome. It's not yours to ping about.

Seriously? Sit down in a quiet place and think about WHAT (not why) you are afraid of. Be as specific as you can be in your thoughts. Will you lose air? Water? Food? Life? If so, then don't do it. If not, usually, when you isolate such things, they will weaken and disappear under your scrutiny. Yes - 'he' will get upset. So? And so forth You'll be just dandy...

Practice pretending to not be nervous about this conversation. Rehearse the conversation and the pretending to not be nervous. Eventually you'll be less nervous.

Adopt a 'What the hell....this won't matter in a 100 years anyway' attitude.

Good luck and Happy New Year.
