In all honesty, it's not THAT much different. If you stac, the nicest Xbox game next to the nicest PS2 game, seriously, there's really not that much of a difference. The real arguments for the xbox vs ps2 is in the functionality of the system. With ps2, not only are you getting the ps2, but your'e also getting a DvD player AND every game created for the Ps1, also. There is just so much more available to the ps2. However, with the ps2 you do lose a bit in the realm of online play; but if you're buying your system based on online play, then that means you're buying for halo, at which point i shake my head in shame and just leave :).
This war used to be fought between Sony and nintendo, where the argument was quality of games. Then microsoft came in and pushed for the "Oh, we're prettier" aspect and now it's a war of "who looks better in a skirt" between sony and xbox where gameplay is thrown aside and you get games like Genji which, while gorgeous, really sucks after 10 minutes. If you MUST base your decision on graphics ONLY, then go for xbox. that 2% better looking is about all it's got. If you want to be a little more depth than that and have an immensly large selection of games, as well as versatility, choose sony. However, if you want to take the path less traveled and say "Oh, i think i'll base this decision on quality of games and the fun factor," then save up an extra $50 and go grab a Wii. That's what I did, and it's probably the funnest system i've ever played, ESPECIALLY MULTIPLAYER, than any system ever.

p.s. Unless you were talking about the xbox360, which is DEFINETLY gorgeous compared to Ps2, but I would never trade my Wii/ps2 for it... see above for reasons.
