It is a catch phrase for the new Worldwide Web. There is no official definition. Depending on who you ask, you will get different definitions. But, basically, it describes an interactive web. In the past, web content was static. You go to a website and your web browser loads the webpage. Pretty simple and straightforward. But, how about a web which analyzes the websites you visited and suggest similar websites. Or, maps which give you directions to reach a destination using public transportation. Another example are social networks on the web. You create a profile and allow other members of the network to read your profile and contact you. You add them to your buddy list and share music and video clips. This is the new web. Communication is no longer in one direction but bidirectional - back and forth.
