I don't usually have a life-time supply of batteries w/me (like some people do.. *cough, cough*) So I figure if I press hard enough, i'll be able to suck the last of the juice in there and prolong the process of getting my *** up, getting in the car and driving to get new ones.. cuz it's either that or switching the remote batteries w/the one for the stereo.. which will eventually end up worse than the ones I already have..
yup, I'm THAT lazy :) *hugz*

each so often the battery isn't low, merely loose, in which case shaking the distant or violent button urgent knocks it lower back into position. yet, contained with regards to a low battery, i might want to assert that once you press the button harder, you're making a extra complete connection between the contacts, making an allowance for further electrical energy to bypass, and consequently easily caryy out the command. this sounds like the really feasable reason

replacing the batteries takes effort and requires getting off the couch, and actually LOOKING for the stupid things since we can't remember where we put them or if we even bought them...so pressing the buttons seems like a good problem solver. That or we're just stubborn and don't like to admit defeat!!!
